Adam & id is a performative human document that exposes the split nature of the existential experience of being inside ourselves and outside with the world. This Internal-external split is taken into a dance creation that examines theatrical reality from two perspectives: that of the performers and that of the addressee - the audience. The chosen viewpoint of the piece is that of two mature dancers who are at the peak of their artistic journey. Despite the challenges that come with aging, their maturity becomes the driving force of this creation, showcasing their authenticity and the gradual detachment from their youth.
While usually our thoughts remain silent, in Adam&id thoughts are transmitted as spoken text, promoting transparency and honesty about the two-sided contract between performers and viewers. The audience gains a rare glimpse into the dancer's inner experience of performing and, while doing so, is exposed to the vulnerability of the dancer and the perspective on the audience’s role.
Adam&Id is designed as a cognitive journey, skipping between ideas, associations, cause and effect, anticipation, and fulfillment, where the dance and text coexist in an almost indifferent manner. After all, the subconscious is a flexible thing, automatically drawing connections even between random things.
