Bio
Sharon Zuckerman Weiser (1977) is a multidisciplinary artist whose artistic roots lie in dance. Having graduated from P.A.R.T.S (Belgium) with a focus on choreography and holding an MFA from Bezalel Academy for Art and Design, she has collaborated with renowned dance and theater artists such as Robert Wilson, Charlotte Vanden Eynde, Jan Decorte, Ulrich Rasche, and others. Zuckerman's works have been showcased at various prestigious frameworks and festivals, including Intimadance, Curtain Up, Dance Arena, Chamber Dances, Tel Aviv Museum, Israel Museum, and more.
She is a member of the Choreographers Association and has received grants and recognition for her work from the Israel Lottery Council for Culture and Arts, the Rabinovich Foundation, the Tel Aviv Municipality, and the Ministry of Culture. Zuckerman is an active pedagogue and was the founder and director of Simulator, a program for contemporary performers. She was also the head of Kelim bi-annual choreographic program in BAT YAM. In recent years, she has been on the staff at SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance), teaching and lecturing about dramaturgy, creativity, performance, and improvisational tools for choreography.
Until 2020, Zuckerman primarily focused on choreographing theatrical dance pieces for the stage, incorporating texts and performative elements. Her works explored the profound impact of souls and life experiences on the human body. However, her artistic direction has since transformed. She now creates immersive environments in installations and site-specific works, centered around the audience's bodies. In her video work, she incorporates her own texts and performs as an actress, encouraging active engagement from viewers and provoking their responses. These experiences are enriched by meticulously designed physical surroundings that harmonize with the overall artistic encounter. Zuckerman currently resides in Tel Aviv with her partner and their three daughters.
